Theming

The website’s dark/light toggle changes this website. It does not configure the desktop application.

Opcodex plans a cleaner desktop interface using Ghidra’s theme and docking foundations. VERIFY the shipped theme names, defaults, and chooser location against an actual release; no finished Opcodex theme is promised here.

Ghidra’s theme system controls colors, fonts, icons, Java look and feel, and light/dark defaults. Its Theme Chooser switches between known themes. The Theme Editor adjusts values and can save a custom theme.

Custom themes live under the user settings directory’s themes folder. The settings directory is platform/configuration dependent. In the upstream Project window, find it through Help → Runtime Information → Application Layout → Settings Directory rather than assuming a fixed home-directory path.

  1. Save a copy before editing a custom theme.
  2. Check Listing addresses, operands, comments, and selection colors.
  3. Check Decompiler syntax, warnings, and highlighted variables.
  4. Inspect disabled controls, focused buttons, dialogs, and tooltips.
  5. Increase the editor font if needed and verify that dialogs still fit.

Theme changes should preserve meaning: code/data distinctions and warnings need to remain legible. Share an exported theme with its required application version and test it in a clean profile.

TODO: update screenshot with real Opcodex dark and light desktop views.
